John Bentley

Non-Executive Chairman

John has more than 40 years’ experience in international natural resource development, with a specific focus on Africa’s upstream oil and gas industry for the past three decades.

He was instrumental in the formation of Energy Africa Ltd and led the Company’s growth in 12 African countries and several important hydrocarbon resource discoveries, laying the groundwork for Tullow Oil’s successful US$500 million takeover of Energy Africa in 2004.

John has held executive and board roles in numerous E&P companies over the past two decades, with the majority focused on Africa, including Vanco Energy Company, FirstAfrica Oil plc, Rift Oil plc, Caracal Energy Inc, Faroe Petroleum plc, Wentworth Resources Ltd and most recently Africa Energy Corp. which made the significant Brulpadda and Luiperd play opening discoveries offshore South Africa.

Joe Mutizwa

Deputy Chairman and Non-Executive Director

Joe is the current chairman of Mangwana Capital, a major shareholder of the Company. Joe served for ten years as Chief Executive of Delta Corporation, one of Zimbabwe`s largest listed companies before taking early retirement in 2012.

He currently sits on the Presidential Advisory Council (PAC), a body appointed by Zimbabwe’s President, His Excellency CDE E.D Mnangagwa, and is comprised of experts and leaders drawn from diverse sectors to advise and assist the President in formulating key economic policies and strategies in the country. Joe served on the board of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (2015-2019) and currently chairs the boards of the of Star Africa Corporation Zimbabwe (ZSE: SACL), a local sugar refiner; as well as the board of the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ).

Joe has a BSc degree (with first class honours) from The London School of Economics; an MBA from the University of Zimbabwe and an MSc from HEC – Paris and Oxford University.

Scott Macmillan

Managing Director

Scott is a Reservoir Engineer and founder of Invictus Energy Ltd. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) with +15 years experience in exploration, field development planning, reserves and resources assessment, reservoir simulation, commercial valuations and business development.

Scott was previously a Senior Reservoir Engineer at Woodside Energy on large offshore Oil & Gas field developments and Business Advisor in the Global New Ventures team focused on Africa exploration as well as a Senior Reservoir Engineer for AWE working on the Waitsia Gas Field; the largest onshore gas discovery in Australia in the last 40 years. He has extensive business experience in Zimbabwe.

Robin Sutherland

Non-Executive Director

Robin has worked in the African E&P sector for nearly four decades and played a key role in the development of Energy Africa, joining as a specialist geophysicist in 1997 and had a hand in several important hydrocarbon resource discoveries.

Following the acquisition of Energy Africa by Tullow in 2004, he led Tullow’s exploration team through the discovery and appraisal of the Jubilee and TEN fields in Ghana, and the Lokichar Basin in Kenya before becoming Tullow’s General Manager Exploration Africa in 2015.

In 2020, Robin launched a successful consultancy business, assisting companies with exploration, appraisal and development of Africa’s extensive natural resources.

Gabriel Chiappini

Non-Executive Director & Co-Sec

Mr. Chiappini is an experienced ASX director and has been active in capital markets for almost two decades.

He has assisted in raising AU$450m and has provided investment and divestment guidance to a number of companies.

During his career he has been involved with 10 ASX IPOs in the last 12 years.

He is a member of the AICD and CA ANZ,  Director of Black Rock Mining (ASX:BKT), Black Dragon Gold Corp (ASX:BDG) and Company Secretary to Adriatic Metals plc (ASX:ADT).

Victoria (Vicky) McLellan

Chief Financial Officer

Vicky has more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a proven track record in financial management and strategic growth across multinational energy companies.

Prior to joining Invictus, she served as CFO at FAR Limited (ASX:FAR), where she managed the financial operations of an exploration asset in West Africa and played a pivotal role in evaluating strategic opportunities for the company.

Vicky’s extensive experience also includes nine years at Chevron, where she oversaw cashflow management for the Gorgon Project, one of the largest natural gas projects in the world.

Barry Meikle

Country Manager

Barry Meikle is a Zimbabwean national and was appointed Country Manager of Invictus Energy Ltd in early 2022 after spending a year in charge of rolling out the Company’s 1000km 2D seismic survey across the Cabora Bassa Project, known as CB21.

He has since overseen all in-county corporate, financial and operational aspects of Invictus Energy Ltd’s activity.

He has extensive experience managing projects, operations and businesses in the energy sector across exploration, health, safety and environment, emergency response and geophysical surveying.

During his career Barry has had exposure at board level to the timber industry and bauxite mining, while also running his own consultancy business.

Glen Bowman

Exploration Manager

Glen has over 20 years’ experience with global upstream energy companies including a decade in strategic leadership roles spanning traditional oil and gas and new energy technologies.

A geoscientist by background, he has experience in all aspects of subsurface evaluation involved in the development of traditional upstream oil and gas opportunities.

He joined Invictus in early 2023 bringing significant global experience in new business development and joint venture management from a variety of recent roles.

Glen holds a Master of Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia.

Ryan Singh

Drilling Manager

Ryan is Trinidadian and has been in the oil and gas industry for 23 years with various operators around the world – Atlantic, West, East and sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia and Turkey.

He has extensive experience in remote operations and has performed multiple roles in drilling engineering, drilling management and supervision, field development planning and operations management. 

Ryan has worked in deepwater, shallow water and land-based operating environments and puts significant focus on compliance to legislation, contract and cost management.
